3-D Brian image registration using morphological processing and iterative principal axis transform

Abstract

A procedure is developed for preprocessing and segmentation of MR and PET brain volumes. Preprocessing is based on histogram-based K-means clustering. Segmentation is done by means of 3-D morphological processing and region growing. To correlate the registration of MR and PET volumes an improved version of iterative principal axis registration algorithm is used.
