Abstract
Operation of a single photon counting time-correlated flourescence lifetime apparatus using an LSI based system (Terak 8510) for control, data gathering and on-line graphics is described. While such systems normally employ a separate multichannel analyzer and a midlevel computer (usually a minicomputer or a mainframe), the present system has replaced the multichannel analyzer by a relatively inexpensive analog to digital converter (ADC) and a Terak microcomputer. Coupling of this system to the laboratory′s house minicomputer (PDP 11/55) for mass storage, rapid high-level calculations and hard copy graphics are also described.
