Abstract
An image-processing method is described that enhances mammographic features of low-dose film mammographs for early breast cancer detection. The method is based on the optimal adaptive neighborhood image-processing technique, using a suitable contrast enhancement model. This processing provides a significant enhancement mammographic features of with a little or no enhancement of noise and undesired background variations caused by digitization.
