Abstract

The concept of agglomerative model has been incorporated to the Fuzzy Relational Clustering (FRC) to address the issue of unknown number of clusters and a new agglomerative fuzzy relational clustering (A-FRC) is proposed. The method starts with a large number of small clusters. As the iteration proceeds, the number of clusters is progressively reduced based on the cardinality of the clusters. The algorithm then finally converges to an optimal number of clusters. The proposed algorithm has been tested for both the object data and relational data.
