Abstract

In this paper, we present a surface extracting algorithm that finds the surface of a set of points in 3D Euclidean space. We apply the algorithm to extract the surfaces from proteins and discover patterns from these surface structures, using the pattern discovery algorithm we developed earlier. We then use these patterns to classify the proteins. Experimental results show the good performance of the proposed approach.
