Abstract

The Principle of Transference is used in an iterative scheme to determine translational displacements at the joints of spatial mechanisms for which the rotational displacements are known. The advantage of the scheme being presented is that for a spatial mechanism such as the RCCC and its specializations, the rotational displacements can be obtained from the available results for a spherical mechanism, and then the method being described can be applied to obtain the translational displacements instead of the arduous solution of a set of simultaneous equations.
