Abstract

A single wall carbon nanotube - fullerene (SWNT-C60) complex is used as a component of the photoactive layer in bulk heterojunction polymer solar cells (PSCs). As compared to a control cell with only C60, the addition of SWNTs resulted in an improvement of both the short circuit current density JSC and the fill factor (FF), leading to enhanced power conversion efficiency. This device takes advantage of the electron accepting feature of C60 and the excellent electron transport capability of SWNTs. The results indicate that C60 modified SWNTs are promising additives for performance enhancement of PSCs.
