Abstract
This paper is concerned with the computer simulation of reaction injection molding in which liquid monomer mixture is used as reacting injection molded medium. In the reported study, a computational scheme has been devised which describes approximately the mold filling flows of a reacting liquid undergoing a linear condensation polymerization. Preliminary study of the effects of process and materials variables contained in this work, shows that both the filling rate and the reaction rate at feed conditions are important to the time needed to demold and to the molded product uniformity. Extensive experimental data are included in this report.
