Abstract

This paper describes an algorithm that copes with robotic palletization problems. Three characteristics that have not been considered in the literature are important to these problems. They are the stability index when stacking up boxes on the pallet, the random pattern of the incoming sequence of boxes, and the practical performance measures that affect the palletization process such as palletization time, work-in-process, and pallet utilization. The results of the proposed algorithm are presented and compared with other results of existing algorithms in the literature.
