Abstract

As part of a National Science Foundation (NDSF) funded Combined Research/Curriculum Development (CRCD) program, a complementary applied optical science and engineering curriculum is developed which will provide a unified, multidepartmental optical science/engineering curriculum, and emphasize on optics courses which will provide laboratory and classroom training to undergraduate and graduate students in emerging areas of industrial and national importance. The program focuses on the Engineering School and the Applied Physics Programs collective strengths on environmental engineering monitoring and detection of pollutants, industrial process monitoring, and ultrafast optics and optoelectronics.
