Abstract

Entrepreneurship is receiving increasing attention in engineering education. As more universities expose engineering students to entrepreneurship through formal and informal programs, it is important to develop a coherent understanding of their learning outcomes and develop assessment measures. Our work focuses on entrepreneurial behaviour, which is a commonly intended learning outcome of engineering entrepreneurship programs. In this work-inprogress paper, we present our on-going instrument development work involving identification of constructs using existing literature and expert feedback; development of assessment instrument items and expert response to generated items. Our preliminary work presents a 12-item open-ended instrument for assessing six sub-constructs describing entrepreneurial behaviour-opportunism, innovativeness, networking, risk management, adaptability and perseverance.
