DESIGN AND SIMULATION SOFTWARE FOR FLEXIBLE ASSEMBLY SYSTEMS.

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contribution

Abstract

The paper is concerned with some important software tools to be utilised when designing and/or simulating Flexible Assembly Systems with robots. In the case of Flexible Assembly Systems the modular systems approach identifies robotised assembly cells, or processing stations, capable of loading and unloading fixtured components, following an established optimal part transportation sequence, or schedule, changing grippers and tools automatically, sending and receiving data and generally acting as intelligent nodes in the computer network.
