Abstract

The effect of fatigue damage on the dynamic response frequency of spot-welded joints was discussed. It was found that the propagation life of surface fatigue cracks for the spot-welded specimens is short. The results of the experimental study showed that the changes to the specimens' natural frequency varied non-linearly with the cycle ratio or damage fraction, and that relatively large changes in the natural frequency could be measured near the end of the fatigue life.
