Abstract
Case studies of strategies adopted in response to erosion of the shoreline of Delaware Bay, New Jersey, are presented. Measurements of coastal processes and beach responses were made at three sites. Groyne and breakwater systems were examined. The effects of these structures were highly site- specific and showed the importance of careful design to obtain an adequate return on beach protection investments. (D.W.T.)
