Abstract
A constitutive equation based on the concept of the irreversibility of the rupture of a polymer network has been previously proposed as an improvement to the K-BKZ model. This Wagner irreversible constitutive equation is evaluated here using data from double-step shear strain experiments. It is shown that the Wagner irreversible model does not in general provide good predictions when a comprehensive set of deformation histories is considered.
