Abstract
Rheological experiments were carried out to characterize the linear viscoelastic properties of a solution in tricresyl phosphate of nearly monodisperse polystyrene. Focus was on the exponential shearing flow of the solution. Amplitude oscillatory shear flow measurements were performed. Analysis of the data revealed that exponential shearing flow stretches chains no greater than does inception of steady shear, and that neither does it give rise to any greater stresses.
