Abstract

Techniques for the extraction of semivolatile organics from solid matrices are discussed. These include soxhlett extraction, automatic soxhlett extraction, microwave assisted extraction (MAE), supercritical fluid extraction (SFE), and accelerated solvent extraction (ASE). Method fundamentals are discussed along with different applications. The methods are also compared in terms of their advantages and limitations.
