Abstract
Traffic video data has been rapidly increasing at an ever-escalating rate with the developments in traffic management systems. Manual monitoring of traffic videos becomes more impracticable due to the exponential growth in video data generation. With the recent developments in the hardware capacity and data analysis techniques introduced in the fields of artificial intelligence and pattern recognition more studies have been deployed for analyzing the video data and providing useful information automatically. In this chapter, the core components in the workflow of intelligent traffic video analytics and its applications are presented along with recent developments and emerging trends from sub-domains, such as object detection and classification, object tracking, region of interest determination, and traffic incident detection. The main challenges and future research directions are also outlined at the end.
