Abstract

An approach for evaluating a fastener design, by estimating the likelihood where quality errors occur during production, is presented. Such an approach support concurrent engineering objectives of minimizing both the design time and number of design changes. Part of a larger research initiative which is concerned with developing new methodologies in the design for manufacturability (DFM) area is also presented. Several techniques for DFM were developed and implemented in industry, especially in quality control for process improvement.
