Abstract
Fluorene-based chromophores substituted with functionally possessing varying degrees of electron-donating and electron-withdrawing characters, as well as varying π-conjugation length, were synthesized and characterized. Nonlinear absorption spectra was also recorded and molecular structure/nonlinear absorption correlations were conducted. Two-photon photoinitiated cationic polymerization of commercially available epoxide and vinyl ether monomers were successfully conducted with aromatic iodonium and sulfonium salts.
