Abstract

Fundamental energies are determined optically for an ensemble of correlated electrons in an antiferromagnetic insulator, V2O3. The observed variation of the energy gap and the kinetic energy are compared quantitatively to some approximate solutions of the Hubbard Hamiltonian.
