Abstract

A control system design for the ACC benchmark problem of controlling the position of one of a pair of spring coupled cars is presented. The design is based on the use of a reduced-order observer to estimate three of the state variables. The design meets the robustness specifications and the dynamic response specifications, even with control saturation.
