Abstract
While there has been a considerable body of published work on melting in single screw extruders, this paper seeks to advance the understanding of the melting process that takes place in the delay zone of a single screw extruder. In this paper, the melting mechanism of a solid bed moving in a channel that has a 'path obstacle' (which therefore simulates the flight clearance) is investigated. 12 refs.
