Abstract

Optical properties of cobalt phthalocyanine and its derivatives have been analyzed in this study. Simple phenomenological approaches have been utilized to compare the optical properties of cobalt phthalocyanine and its complexes. It has been observed that the fundamental optical constants such as the refractive index and the extinction coefficient vary significantly. Tauc rule and other approaches have been utilized to evaluate the energy gap of the CoPc complex from the absorption coefficient. The evaluated energy gap is in accord with the literature.
