Abstract

The concept of sustainable food supply chain management promotes reducing food waste and fuel consumption. In the research field of perishable products logistics, the joint optimization of facility locations, inventory management, and distribution decisions have not been considered. Since the integration of the supply chain decisions is critical, this paper intends to minimize the total cost formula for a location-inventory-routing problem, considering food waste and fuel consumption. The total cost consists of the cost of construction, inventory, food, and transportation. In a numerical example, the proposed model has demonstrated its applicability in problem solving and efficiency in searching for optimal solutions. The optimal results offer some useful information to decision makers, which could help to reduce cost significantly.
