Abstract

In this work, a parametric method is proposed to estimate the Doppler spread, or the mobile speed by modeling the received data as an autoregressive process. The method can be extended to a spatial-temporal parametric Doppler spread estimator when multiple antennas are available at the receiver. Compared to the nonparametric estimator based on periodogram method, the parametric estimator can achieve a higher resolution, providing more accurate mobile speed information without increasing the computation complexity.
