Abstract

This paper addresses the design problem of narrow-band finite impulse response (FIR) filter without increasing the hardware complexity. The proposed method produces a computationally efficient FIR filter structure using a cascade combination of well known frequency response masking (FRM) technique and a recursive running sum (RRS) filter-equalizer approach. Simulation results have shown the frequency response characteristics of several narrow-band FIR filters designed with the aid of proposed approach. The newly developed FIR filter structure not only generates narrow transition band but also improves the computational efficiency.
