Pulse broadening in dispersion-managed optical fiber links with random dispersion

Abstract

Random dispersion variations lead to pulse degradation in fiber lines. We discuss the validity of a finite-dimensional reduction of the nonlinear Schrodinger equation and derive an analytical formula describing pulse broadening induced by randomness.
