Abstract

A Radial Basis Functions based algorithm was developed for feature extraction from Positron Emission Tomography (PET) data. The algorithms extracts data contributing to the region of interest (ROI) before image reconstruction and processing is performed. The algorithm can also be used as a data filter that reduces the time for the image reconstruction process since fewer counts are reconstructed. The performance of the algorithms was analyzed in terms of the percentage classification errors.
