Abstract

In this letter, we propose a probe-gap scheme to measure queueing delay of a router in a single-hop path. The proposed scheme is based on estimating the change of an intra-probe gap between a pair of probing packets after they traverse the router under test. The proposed scheme can be applied to online routers and is sensitive to small queueing delays. Our simulation results show that this scheme consistently achieves high measurement accuracy under different levels of queueing delays.
