Abstract
In a bed of monodisperse particles, we observe a vibration regime where the rise of an intruder is size-dependent. The bed is then highly ordered in a "crystalline" structure, and this is obtained for very small vibration amplitude. For a fixed relative acceleration, the rise time increases exponentially when the vibration amplitude is reduced while the bed evolves from a convective to an apparently non-convective state.
