Abstract

We propose a state space model to tackle the bandwidth allocation issue of time division multiplexed passive optical networks (TDM-PONs). It describes the TDM-PON system as a threesome of on-line traffic load, bandwidth arbitration decision, as well as queue status. Analytical results show that this model provides a platform to evaluate performance of diverse bandwidth allocation algorithms.
