Abstract
In this paper we present a unified framework for the characterization and simulation of random multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) fading channels. Depending on the presence of local scatterers around the base station and mobile station, we consider several geometrical configurations, which result in parametric expressions for key channel features such as the space-time-frequeacy correlations, average stay duration, etc. This approach allows one to describe and simulate the complicated random MIMO channel via several parameters, which in turn facilitates the analysis and design of multiantenna systems.
