Abstract

Terahertz (THz) free space signaling through experimental controlled atmospheric turbulence is reported. A THz link at 625 GHz carrier frequency with a maximum data rate of 2.5 Gb/s has been developed. Power attenuation and bit error rate (BER) performance caused by air turbulence are presented and compared with an infrared (IR) link at 1550nm wavelength. Numerical simulation of THz attenuation under different turbulence conditions are shown and compared with experimental data.
