Abstract
Neutron scattering measurements were carried out on polycrystalline samples of LaO1−xFxBiS2 to investigate the evolution of the crystal structure with the appearance of superconductivity. It is observed that the BiS2 layer gradually unbuckles as x increases to 0.3 and the orientation of the buckling reverses by x = 0.5. The Debye temperatures were estimated to be ∼319 and ∼224 K for the x = 0 and x = 0.5, respectively, indicating significant softening related to structural disorder.
