Abstract

The objective of this paper is the evaluation of control system designs applicable to small automated guideway transit (AGT) vehicles using linear induction motors (LIM) for propulsion and braking. Evaluation is based on dynamic response during nominal and emergency operations, sensing and communication requirements, and simplicity of controller design. The study is restricted to the vehicle-follower control concept.
