Abstract

The vibrational spectrum of potassium cyanate single crystals in which there is long range disorder in the anion orientations at room temperature, has been studied. The internal and coupled internal vibrations can be treated in terms of a site group approximation, while the factor group corresponding to the average space group D184h, accounts for the K ≈ lattice modes.
